This project is part of the Singer-Zahariev official grant program for 2025.

Female sexuality is often shrouded in a halo of mystery - we talk about it as if it’s something hidden, dirty, ugly, dark, taboo or one-sided. In reality, it is visible to anyone who is willing to look. It is not only confined to the sexual characteristics of a body, but is woven into an endless web of power relations and desires that extend from the everyday and the fleeting to everything else.

Bright Room aims to show and comment on female sexuality and its possibilities not by bringing to light the clichés of nudity, but by focusing on the paradox of the intimate and the public that forms subjectivity. In a world awash with the endless fetishization of the female body, Bright Room attempts to question the popular nude and the claims of revolutionary, emancipatory or subversive element in pop feminist exhibitions.

Bright Room is not an invitation to voyeuristic peering into the private space or the body. It is an invitation to see the light into something that has never been in shadow except in our our own fears and prejudices. It not only illuminates but also provokes - to understand, accept and build an authentic and conscious relationship with female sexuality in all its manifestations without any pretense of one-sidedness or privilege over one type sexuality over another.
