The partnership of Sofia Experimental 2025 with Rockschool is going to be materialised in one of the educational initiatives during the festival - the music workshop for vocal free improvisation, led by Jeny Petrova. The workshop will be held in two two-hour sessions within the festival program in the space of The Stage:

The essence of the workshop is united around a common goal - expression through improvised music making in order to enable more participants to touch the magic of sound, to explore it with their own instrument - voice, to control it through various techniques, to stimulate their creative and emotional intelligence, their ability to work in an ensemble ...

The workshop is planned in two parts:

Educational: training in contemporary vocal techniques, as within the workshop the basic elements of free improvisation will be acquired; learning gestures from the conducted improvised performance, practicing them and presenting them to an audience will be mastered – the most exciting part, as well as the thrill and satisfaction of bringing everything to completion!

 

Practical: practicing vocal free improvisation; following conducting techniques and performing according to one's own feeling and sensation, which gives freedom of creative abilities, will to concentrate thought, emotion and free application of acquired musical skills; provoking understanding and interest in the essence of sound and its expression, as well as building a sense of rhythm, confidence and synchronisation.
